Hammerhead Shark, Nearly 13-Feet

Hammerhead Shark, Nearly 13-FeetChannel 7 Florida Reported: A fisherman reeled in a big catch off Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Monday afternoon, and it was all caught on camera. A Hammerhead Shark, nearly 13-feet in length, was caught just feet from the beach near the pier at Commercial Boulevard and A1A. Ryan Bolash and a friend were the ones who caught the sea creature and helped guide it toward the shore. Bolash then pulled the shark onto the beach. “A lot of adrenaline running through your body, it’s not easy,” he said.

Out-of-town beach goers were stunned by the sight. “It was flaring around, and then he cut the line, and everybody was taking pictures, so it was really cool,” said Stephanie Milton.

“It’s a very big experience for us,” said tourist Jenie Rivest. “For sure we are going to tell everybody in Montreal that we saw this.”

Bolash and a couple of other guys cut the fishing line near the shark’s mouth and then quickly dragged it back into the water and watched it swim away. “It’s an achievement. It’s cool to catch something that big and have a picture and show everyone and be like, ‘Look at what I caught!’ It’s the ultimate catch,” said Bolash.

A person who works at the pier said the last time they can recall a 13-foot Hammerhead being caught there was back in the 1960s. See video at this link…..
