U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Seeking Comments From Businesses Regarding the Import and Export of Wildlife Specimens – On November 1, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) issued a notice in the federal register requesting comments regarding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from the Humane Society for information on imports and exports of wildlife specimens.  The notice has caused significant concern amongst hunters who are justifiably worried that their personal information could be made public.

Despite Severe Gun Controls, UK Warns of Terrorist Gun Attacks
This week, UK authorities effectively admitted that the “gold standard” of gun control is not enough to protect the country from extremists that are intent on using illegally obtained firearms to commit terrorist violence. Warning that terrorists could bypass the country’s strict laws, the UK’s National Crime Agency and National Counter Terrorism Policing have issued a desperate appeal to the public for any information that could prevent terrorists and other criminals from acquiring firearms.

October Continues Trend of Record-Breaking Gun-Check Numbers
Continuing a trend that has held for over 17 months, the number of firearm-related checks initiated through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in October 2016 breaks the record for that month as the highest for any October since the NICS was instituted in 1998. The latest data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on the number of firearm-related checks initiated through NICS for October shows a significant increase over the previous October (2,333,539 vs. 1,976,759) and exceeds the monthly totals for each of the last six months.  Moreover, every state (and the District of Columbia), with the exception of Louisiana, saw an uptick in October over the previous month.

Labor Allies Seek to Mislead Working Men and Women on Guns
NRA members come from all walks of life. That’s because NRA’s sole focus of protecting the rights of gun owners and hunters unites people across political party, background, education level, and economic status. Of note, NRA has strong support among union members. Unfortunately, this support frustrates some politicians and political strategists who would rather that union members disregard their Second Amendment rights while in the voting booth.

Gun Control Mind Games
Gun control advocates would have you believe that, if only there were background check requirements for all gun sales and transfers and if only the so-called “private sale loophole” was repealed, criminals would no longer be able to obtain guns online or at gun shows without a background check.  Then, they’d have you believe, we’d see an end to the proliferation of guns and “gun violence.”  Backers of the Bloomberg-funded background check initiative in Nevada, for example, argue that the initiative law is necessary because “criminals must be prevented from acquiring guns in simple ‘no questions asked’ transactions.”
