Your NRA-ILA Daily Alert 10-18-2016South Carolina: Please Attend the Third Special “Gun Issues” Committee Hearing This Week – While the South Carolina General Assembly is not currently in session, a special committee of state Senators will be holding their third public hearing to discuss “gun issues” in South Carolina. The hearing will be held by the Senate Gun Issues Special Committee, chaired by state Senator Gerald Malloy (D-29).  Also serving on the committee are Senators Chip Campsen (R-43), Chauncey Gregory (R-16), Greg Hembree (R-28), and Marlon Kimpson (D-42).

The so-called independent fact-checker, PolitiFact, is the latest example of blatant mainstream media bias on the issue of firearms and the Second Amendment. The organization “fact-checked” an NRA campaign ad which quotes Hillary Clinton as saying that she thinks “it would be worth considering” when asked about gun confiscation in America. Those are Hillary’s exact words when asked at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire last year if she supported America adopting Australia-style gun confiscations.

Connecticut judge throws out Sandy Hook lawsuit against gun manufacturers
A Connecticut judge on Friday agreed to dismiss a lawsuit filed against gun manufacturers and sellers by relatives of people killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in 2012, saying that the suit was not allowed under a federal shield law.

Gun-control referendum awaits Maine voters
Question 3, one of six referendums on the Nov. 8 ballot, asks if voters want to require background checks prior to the sale or transfer of firearms between individuals not licensed as firearms dealers. According to the Maine Commission of Governmental Ethics and Elections Practices, seven political action committees are connected to the referendum. Mainers for Responsible Gun Ownership supports Question 3 and the other six oppose the measure.
