Record Blue Cat By Fly

Browns's blue catfish 1While fly fishing Lake Bardwell, Texas, USA on the morning of March 21st, angler D. Kirk Brown, MD landed this impressive 16.1 kg (35 lb 8 oz) blue catfish (Ictalurus furcatus) that could earn him the new men’s 10 kg (20 lb) tippet class world record.

Brown, an experience fly angler, needed nearly an hour to subdue the big cat after it ate the custom clouser he was casting. Once landed, the Brown quickly weighed and documented the catch, before releasing it alive. The current world record is 12.92 kg (28 lb 8 oz). https://www.igfa.org/
