Potential Record Japanese Seabass Caught, Tagged, and Released

igfa logoJapanese angler Mari Kitagawa caught, tagged, and released a potential world record Japanese seabass (Suzuki) (Lateolabrax japonicus) on January 4th while fly fishing in Urado, Japan. Kitagawa was casting a streamer fly with local guide Nobuo Negi, when the fish hit. Kitagawa needed only a few minutes to subdue the fish, which was then documented, tagged, and released alive. If approved, the catch will earn Kitagawa the new women’s 3 kg (6 lb) tippet class record. LINK TO THE IGFA – http://www.igfa.org/
