Over the past two months ODU has received very positive news from several writers looking to join us as contributors. We have had many contributors come to us and share their stories and again we are humbled. Many have written for the big publications out there, while some are just sharing their outdoor experiences for the first time. We are extremely happy to have them share with us.

Capt. Sergio Atanes – Raised in Tampa, Capt. Sergio Atanes holds a 100 Ton USCG Master Captain’s license and has over 40 years of experience fishing the local waters of West Central Florida. Capt. Sergio picked up his first home made fishing rod at the age of four and soon developed a passion for the sport, expanding his fishing knowledge and skills over the last 40 years. Jim Ahonen – My name is Jim Ahonen, I live in the community of Riverview. As a lifelong resident of Detroit’s Downriver Area, I grew up fishing for walleye. Over the years I have honed my skills jigging and trolling on Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River and Lake Erie’s Western Basin. I also am an active member of the Downriver Walleye Federation. Joella Bates – Joella Bates can do it all: hunt, fish, shoot any type of weapon with considerable skill. Joella shoots compound bows, crossbows, recurve bows and longbows. Joella has claimed nine 3-D Archery World Championship Titles – four as a Woman Pro and has earned over $100,000 in tournaments along with many national, regional, state and local titles. Jofie LamprechtJofie Lamprecht – Husband. Father. Big Game Professional Hunter. Photographer. Writer. Jack Russell Lover. Born in Namibia in 1979, Jofie is fluent in English, German & Afrikaans. His father, the legendary Joof Lamprecht, raised him in the safari business. Jofie hunted his first Oryx at age 5, sat in his first leopard blind at 6 and took his first Cape buffalo when he was just 12 years old. A swimmer and rugby player – graduated in Hotel Operations & Management while working at two of South Africa’s top 5-star hotels. Jofie Lamprecht is a licensed P.H. in both plains-game and dangerous-game hunting in Namibia. Additionally he is a widely published wildlife photographer and writer. Jofie is a trained wine expert and a passionate “foodie” who adheres to blue-ribbon standards of food and service. Margie Anderson – Margie (ML) Anderson has been an outdoor writer for over 30 years and is a voting member of the Professional Outdoor Media Association. She has been named Outdoor Writer of the Year in Arizona three times by the Arizona Game and Fish Association. Margie’s dad was an Ojibwa Indian who took her hunting and camping almost as soon as she could walk, and he instilled a great love for the outdoors in her. She lives in Phoenix with her husband John and a wonderful little French Brittany Spaniel named Rosie. Shane BeilueShane Beilue – Based in Texas, Shane has a life long fascination with making a fish eat an artificial lure.  Whether the pursuit is power fishing for bass, sight fishing redfish or casting a fly in a mountain stream, the challenge and thrill of the strike is the same. Writing provides an outlet to share his passion with others and hopefully educate the public on topics critical to being more successful on the water.
