Lawmakers on Monday passed legislation intended to spur sales of so-called smart guns and prevent Gov. Christie’s administration from making it easier to get permits to carry guns.

Hawaii: Governor Signs Ivory Ban Legislation
Governor Ige recently signed Senate Bill 2647 into law.  SB 2647 bans the sale, purchase, barter, and possession with intent to sell of any ivory (defined to include mammoth ivory), ivory product, rhinoceros horn, rhinoceros horn product and products from various other animal species, absent narrow and limited exceptions.  SB 2647 goes far beyond law-abiding gun owners and adversely impacts anyone who owns ivory, and products from a wide variety of animals, by significantly diminishing the value of lawfully acquired property.  To read more about ivory ban legislation, please refer to NRA-ILA’s Ivory Ban Fact Sheet.

Nevada: Proposed Hunting Caliber Restriction Vote Postponed
Thanks to your phone calls and comments, the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners postponed making a decision on the proposed hunting caliber size restrictions at their meeting last Saturday.  As previously reported, one of the proposed regulations would make it unlawful to hunt big game animals with a centerfire rifle using a .50 caliber cartridge or a centerfire cartridge with a case length of more than 3 inches.  The proposed regulation is a solution in search of a problem, serving only to arbitrarily limit the rights of law-abiding gun owners and hunters.

Pennsylvania: Critical Firearms Preemption Legislation Passes Committee
Today, Senate Bill 1330, legislation that would strengthen Pennsylvania’s firearms preemption law to further ensure firearm and ammunition laws are consistent throughout the state,  passed the Senate Local Government Committee with an 8-3 vote.  SB 1330 will now go to the Senate floor for consideration by the full chamber.  Please click the “Take Action” button below to contact your state Senator TODAY in support of SB 1330!
