VA Outdoor Report 5/29/2014

VA Outdoor Report LogoThis May 28th edition posts just after we have celebrated Armed Forces Day May 17th  and then  on Memorial Day May 26th honored our fallen service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedom. As we clean and stow our gear from spring gobbler season and get out the boat and fishing gear, I am reminded of my dad and uncles and mentors growing up who taught me so much about the outdoors and service and respect that in part was due to their military service and life changing experiences.  To all our veterans and active duty service men and women and their families,  Thank You  for “answering the call” to defend  freedom and preserve liberty.  Without your service, courage, and sacrifice we would not be able to enjoy our outdoor heritage and traditions.   We hope you will show appreciation to those who now actively serve and live in our communities by helping them in some good deed as a tangible way to honor those who gave their lives that we memorialize during this spring season of renewal. Honor these veterans by pursuing your outdoor adventures with safety and courtesy for your fellow outdoor enthusiasts and appreciation for the opportunity just to be out there.  This edition of TOR has many stories of events and activities that are being held to benefit our veterans  and active duty service members sponsored by fellow hunters, anglers and boaters to share in our great outdoors.  We hope you will participate and invite a novice outdoors person to share the memories.
