NYup.com Reported First – A Lewis County man was ticketed earlier this month for shooting a female bear out of tree with a shotgun in the front yard of a residence shortly after midnight.

Lewis County 911 received a call from a woman in the town of Watson on June 6 reporting a bear in a tree in her front yard, according to a state Department of Environmental Conservation news release entitled “Senseless Shooting of a Bear.”

DEC Central Dispatch was made aware of the situation and a DEC official directed Lewis County to advise the caller to “leave the bear alone and that it would most likely come down from the tree during the night and leave the area.”

The woman contacted her boyfriend in Lowville and told him about the situation. The boyfriend, whose name was not released by DEC, came home and shot the bear several times with a shotgun shortly after midnight.

The woman then called Lewis County 911 and advised them of the situation. FULL Story link – https://www.newyorkupstate.com/outdoors/2018/06/upstate_ny_man_ticketed_for_senseless_shooting_of_bear_in_front_yard_tree.html
