Two fishing days with Dan end a little different from one another.

Fishing today was windy and tough. The water temperature is in the upper 30’s, but ironically the fish were in the shallowest water in the lake. The first strike bit the tail off of a Natural Forage Baits Swim Bait, so I quickly picked up my spinning rig with a NFB Lil Killer rigged on a BFishn Tackle H20 Precision jig head, and used a fast “finger jigging” retrieve. This time the hit was positive, and I was able to get the fish in.

More hits came on the Lil Killer, but that was about it.

I went to another lake and only had one hit on a Mr. Crappie Slab Daddy. Fished there for about an hour until the wind changed direction and increased in speed, with a front passing through.

Until next time, get out on the water, and enjoy a great day of fishing.

Pepper and I tried our luck at the Rock Island Conservation Club, and stayed until the sun set the water a fire.

This was the spot where I took Pepper fishing for the first time around 9 or 10 years ago. He enjoyed sniffing around as normal.

The fishing side of things wasn’t all that great. I caught a few small crappie and bass on the deep side of submerged brush on Mr. Crappie Slab Daddy jigs, and Custom Jigs & Spins number 10 and 6 Ratso jigs. One 15-inch drum hit the number 10 Ratso.

All the jigs were tipped with Power Crappie Nibbles and given a dose of Kick’n Bass Fish Attractants Crappie scent. Any crappie jig like the Slab Daddy, Flu Flu and Blitz Lures LLC Crappie Jig, are perfect for holding scent much longer than a jig with a plastic body.

Until next time, get out on the water and enjoy a great day of fishing.
