Arizona Game and Fish Department officials say outside experts agree with state biologists that a hunter’s trail camera captured an image of a jaguar late last month.
Eric Gardner of Game and Fish said in a statement Friday that state and outside experts examining the photo looked at spot patterns and the animal’s size in comparison to nearby vegetation to conclude it was an endangered jaguar.
The photo was taken in late September southeast of Tucson but only shows the animal’s tail and a small part of its hindquarters.
The last confirmed jaguar sighting in Arizona was last November and also southeast of Tucson. A hunter’s dogs treed the animal and he took photographs before leaving. More Here…
