Tony Lor Joins ODU Team To Share His Midwestern Experience 1 Tony Lor is a young Hmong American who loves the world of fishery. He’s from Saint Paul Minnesota, the state of 10,000 lakes. Tony Lor, at the age of 27 now has been fishing in competitive tournaments for 4 years and starting his 5th year here in 2016. This young angler started fishing competitive bass tournaments at the age of 22 years old with no knowledge of how to pattern out bass or what to do.

Going into his first tournament with a 14ft aluminum boat and 2 rods and a couple Plano boxes of jigs and plastics, Tony was able to book in his first win. Tony was hooked solid into bass fishing after his first tournament win of his life and the wins continued throughout the year. At the end of the first year of his fishing career, Tony was able to hold two titles in his Hmong community fishing clubs. He was the 2012 Dinkerz Bass Club Angler of the year and also the Hmong Bass Club 2-day Championship.

He strives very hard and seriously about his competitive fishing career all because his dream is to compete regularly in the Bassmaster Elite trail one day. Its a very long shot for him to do so. Coming from a family who has to work hard for what they want, Tony is getting closer and closer just to even thinking about if one day he’ll be able to fish with the top anglers of the country. Fishing isn’t just a sport or time spent on the lake for Tony. It’s a passion at heart. Every year Tony will learn new things and put his learnings into use and has climbed that tall latter to be where he is today. Along side with him, his small local sponsors is coming up the ranks in his community. 2016, he’s trying to branch off and join other communities outside his comfort zone and take higher level anglers head on. Using his skills and knowledge he believes he can make something happen. He knows in his heart if he strives hard enough and be patient, a door will open for him.

On Tony’s time off season, he likes to spend time with his wife and two kids. Kia who is his biggest supporter of what he does. Jaydon K. Lor, Tony’s son who loves fishing but ends up throwing rods in the water. Also, we have Arabella L. Lor, the one who will eventually start throwing fish back in the water leaving the dinner plate empty.  Tony and his family is full of fun when they’re together. Laughing and yelling all having fun. Some of his time off is also spent with his sponsors. Either it’s working new lures or simply giving them a hand at the shops. Family is a big part of his life. Along with all his sponsors who has helped him get this far in his career. It’s just a start to this long adventure Tony is going to have. With the help and support of his family, friends and sponsors new doors hopefully opens for this young man. bright future ahead of him.
