The Vasque Clarion ’88 is pure, proud heritage

“In recent years, we’ve re-launched classic Vasque silhouettes, directly inspired by what we’ve heard from the loyal Vasque consumers,” says Vasque Head of Marketing, Joe Peters. “Whether online or on the trail, it’s clear from interactions with Vasque fans that many of the same people wearing our modern hikers also have a special place in their hearts for the styles of yesteryear. 2018 felt like the perfect opportunity to re-launch the Clarion on the thirtieth anniversary of its debut in 1988.”

Rebirth of a Classic

The Clarion ’88 is pure, proud heritage. Revived from the Vasque archives, the Clarion ’88 reemerges as an updated classic for the modern consumer. Paging through catalogues from seasons and eras gone by, our product designers were instantly inspired by the potential of a Clarion comeback. The updated boot delivers a lightweight, flexible ride with all-day breathability and comfort that’s at home on the trail or in town. Three decades after the original debut, the Clarion ’88 stays true to the classic styling, and remains genuine to the soul of Vasque.

Beyond the Trail

The 90’s saw a wave of outdoors apparel and footwear adopted for casual, daily use. A favorite staple of this repurposed, stylized gear was the Vasque Clarion. Beloved for its classic silhouette and comfort, the Clarion turned heads with a colorful upper that stood out in a sea of brown boots during a 10-year run of production.

By Popular Demand

The popularity of the Clarion was undeniable. Vasque released a series of colors for both men, women, and kids, a low, and a GORE-TEX™ version within five years of its debut in 1988.
