The Frontier Sports Fishing Report…………… June 7th, 2018

The Frontier Sports Fishing Report…………… June 7th, 2018Weather patterns have begun to settle down and this has helped fishing success to some degree. Temperatures for the remainder of the week will remain in the seventies with a chance of light rain and partly sunny skies. It appears that walleyes have started to enter their summer patterns although not entirely. The evening bite has been fairly good and as darkness ascends, the walleyes start moving up into the shallows in six to eight feet of water. Casting jerk baits like the LIVE TARGET Rainbow smelt and my favorite lure, lipless rattle baits like the Savage Gear Soft Vibe and the LIVE TARGET Glow Golden Shiner, along and up into the weed lines have always worked for me. This time of year when they are scattered throughout the lake’s topography tends to make it difficult to locate the fish but perseverance often wins out. Just keep after it and you’ll probably figure them out but don’t expect to find them in the same place tomorrow!

Panfish are in the shallows now but depending on the weather or whatever it is that makes them leave, the deeper staging areas close by the spawning grounds have been very productive. Small crankbaits can’t be beat under these conditions.

Bass fishing has been very good lately in the shallows and staging areas similar in depth to the panfish. Frogs, tubes, plastics, spinner baits and the trusty rattle baits have been producing well. With all these fish in shallow water, this has proved irresistible to big pike, ready to snatch up a meal or two. Cruising weed lines, bulrushes and drop-offs have proven to be very successful in boating a few pike. Crankbaits, swim baits and spoons have seen many a pike hooked and landed and maybe even released.

The weather this weekend looks to be fantastic, so get out there and enjoy! Have a Great Weekend Everyone!!
