The Crappie Magnet Grabs Some Cats

The fishing report is a little different today. Don Banning, Pepper and I hit the lake in hopes of bass, as normal. I did manage to catch a few smaller bass on Rat-L-Traps and Natural Forage Baits R4 finesse worm, but it was slow. So, I decided to try a Crappie Magnet tipped with Crappie Nibbles, and fished under a Mr. Crappie weighted float, using a Berkley 10′ C-Series rod with 8 pound test Nanofil in hopes of luring some of the larger crappie that are normally setting in deeper water. The results was two big catfish (8 lbs.,4 ozs. and 9 lbs. 5 ozs.). Now that will put a bow in the 10′ crappie rod, which is great fun.

Thanks to some good netting by Don Banning, I was able to get them landed. Don said he had just as much fun watching me fight the fish, which took several runs for deeper water. They were both released after Don snapped a photo or two.

Until next time, get out on the water, and enjoy a great day of fishing.
