Szelag’s Common Carp

Agnieszka Szelag 1German angler Agnieszka Szelag caught and released this quality 20.1 kg (44 lb 4 oz) common carp (Cyprinus carpio) on May 2nd while fishing Schiossteich, Austria. Szelag was soaking a boilies bait, and needed 20 minutes to subdue the fish on the light tackle she was using. Once landed, the fish was quickly documented and released alive. If approved, Szelag’s catch will earn her the new women’s 24 kg (50 lb) line class record, which currently stands at 1.93 kg (4 lb 4 oz).
