September elk hunters score with impressive bullsThe two September elk hunters took impressive bulls, one just after the hunt opened Monday and the other near dark on Tuesday, the second day of the scheduled five-day hunt.

Both hunters worked the Richland Valley area in western Searcy County near the Buffalo National River.

Brent Hohenstein of Searcy downed an elk with a highly unusual rack (antlers). It was a 6×11, meaning 6 points on one side and 11 on the other. The 11 points was a record for Arkansas elk hunting.

Allyn Ladd of Camden was unusual in his hunt also. He used a bow. Ladd got a 6×6 bull on the evening of the second day.
