OTW Red Dot Sight

OTW Red Dot sighOver a week ago I told you about the OTW Red Dot sight that I got, and ordered 2 more from Amazon for around $13 each. Well today they arrived. The one that I received a few days ago fit perfectly on the Ruger 10/22 Compact. So I figured these would work great on my Umarex USA, Inc. NXG air rifle, and Henry Repeating Arms Mare’s Leg or Evil Roy. I was wrong on both counts.

The Red Dot, which also has a green section, has a two sided mount, which makes it possible to mount on a dovetail or Picatinny, or at least that is what it is supposed to do. The dovetail is not a 3/8-10mm, which is required by Henry and Umarex rifles. So, I took off the DTP adaptors that were on the scope for the Henry Frontier Long Barrel and gave those a try with the Picatinny side of the mount. It worked, but not sure how well as it looked a little iffy. However I ordered some more DTP adaptors and am going to give it a try.

I’m anxious to get all of this put together. In all I’ll have 4 guns to experiment with the LaserLyte boresight – Frontier with the full size 3-9×40 scope, and 10/22, Mare’s Leg and NXG with Red Dot scopes. The only problem is that the LaserLyte does not have a .177 adaptor, so not quite sure if I’ll be able to use it with the NXG.

Now I’ll have to wait for this subzero weather to back off. Plus, 5 inches of snow is on the way.

Stay tuned for more updates, and hopefully a video.

Until next time shoot safe, and have a great day of plinking.
