The NWTF and Hope For The Warriors are excited to announce a partnership to provide hunting opportunities throughout the country for wounded service members, their families and families of the fallen. The focus of the partnership will be on enhancing the quality of life for the entire military family.
“We’re thrilled to help our veterans by partnering with Hope For The Warriors,” said George C. Thornton, NWTF CEO. “We can never do enough to fully honor them for their service to our country, but this is one way we can show our appreciation to the veterans of our Armed Services. By partnering with Hope For the Warriors, we will increase our ability to help veterans enjoy the outdoors through our Wheelin’ Sportsmen NWTF.”
Hope For The Warriors created the Outdoor Adventures Program in 2010 to provide adaptive opportunities for wounded heroes to participate in sporting activities in the great outdoors. In 2012, the organization recognized the therapeutic benefits for the family members and expanded the program to include spouses and children of wounded and fallen service members.
The partnership with the NWTF will give Hope For The Warriors access to hunting opportunities throughout the country, allowing for a greater reach of service members and families supported through the program.
“We have witnessed firsthand the restoring power of our Outdoor Adventures Program,” Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors President said. “Partnering with the NWTF will help us provide more opportunities to combat-wounded service members and their families, using the great outdoors to support their rehabilitation and recovery.”
The NWTF is the leader in upland wildlife habitat conservation in North America and was a driving force in restoring wild turkeys, which now number more than 7 million.
The NWTF and its volunteers, working closely with wildlife management agencies and other partners, have invested $372 million and conserved 17 million acres of habitat to benefit wild turkeys and countless other species. The NWTF also works to preserve our hunting heritage, and its dedicated volunteers introduce about 100,000 people to the outdoors every year through NWTF programs.
The mission of Hope For the Warriors is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
