Iowa: Five Pro-Gun Bills Pass House Floor Vote
Today was a successful day for gun-owners in the The Hawkeye State. Five pro-gun bills passed the House of Representatives with bipartisan votes and will now go to the Senate for further consideration.  Please contact your state Senator and politely urge them to SUPPORT these pro-gun bills.

West Virginia: URGENT Action Needed on Permitless Carry
Yesterday, the West Virginia Senate overwhelmingly passed House Bill 4145, important legislation that would recognize a law-abiding adult’s fundamental right to carry a concealed weapon for self-defense without government-mandated taxes and permitting.  Your immediate action is needed to ensure HB 4145 becomes law.  Please contact your Delegate and urge them to OPPOSE any attempt to send HB 4145 to Conference Committee.

Arizona: Pro-Gun Legislation Advances in The Grand Canyon State
As previously reported, Senate Bill 1266, an important bill which would improve Arizona’s current state firearms preemption statute, passed the Senate on Thursday, February 18, with an 18-11 vote.  SB 1266 was sent to the House of Representatives for further consideration where it is currently waiting to be scheduled for a House committee hearing.  Your NRA-ILA will keep you updated on the status of this critical bill as it progresses through the Arizona Legislature.

Texas: Open carry controversy started with a bang but shooting blanks so far
Fifty days into the open carry era in Texas, things in the Austin metro area have been conspicuously calm.The policy’s critics thought the law allowing gun license holders to openly carry handguns would usher in a modern-day Wild West, but the American-Statesman found only two 911 calls have been made to Austin area police since the law took effect Jan. 1. Neither case resulted in criminal charges or any violence.

The lawsuit, filed in December 2014 and seeking unspecified financial damages, said the AR-15 assault weapon used in the attack that killed 20 young children and six educators in Newtown, Connecticut, should never have been sold because it had no reasonable civilian purpose.
