Rob Bradley is on the Special Order Calendar to be heard on the Senate Floor Thursday, January 21, 2016, between 1:00-4:00pm.  SB-344 restores the Stand Your Ground law to the original intent of the Legislature by putting the burden of proof BACK ON THE STATE where it belongs. Today, Governor Christie pocket-vetoed Senate Bill 3249 /A. 4717, sponsored by state Senator Loretta Weinberg (D-37) and state Senator Richard Codey (D-27).

Open carry seems to be going off without a bang in Texas. Law enforcers statewide had anticipated being overwhelmed by 911 calls from Texans reporting others openly carrying holstered handguns, but the phone lines haven’t been even close to slightly busy.

On Tuesday, January 19, state Representative Saira Blair introduced House Bill 4145, legislation that would allow a law-abiding individual, who is 21 years of age or older, to lawfully carry a concealed handgun for self-defense without needing to first obtain a government-issued permit.
