Namibia: Poacher Killed By Kudu

A 44 year-old man was fatally attacked by a kudu while trying to kill it with an axe at Mururani village, some 130 kilometres south of Rundu on Saturday.

The deceased allegedly tried to kill the kudu while it was caught in a wire-trap. Kavango Regional Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Crime Investigations Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told Nampa on Monday that the deceased was identified as Johannes Wihinda, a resident of Mururani village.

One of the trapped kudu’s horns penetrated the left side of Wihinda’s chest, while he was trying to kill it. The deceased died on the spot.

His next of kin have already been informed, and police are still investigating.
