Mississippi Record Fish 1The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources (MCMR) certified three Mississippi recreational saltwater fishing records during its August meeting. Joey Davis of Ocean Springs broke the state conventional tackle record for Bearded Brotula with a 17-pound, 8-ounce fish on June 17, 2013. Wil Brown of Gautier broke the state conventional tackle record for Gray Snapper with a 14-pound, 7-ounce fish on June 28, 2013. Donald L. Bosarge II of Gautier broke the state conventional tackle record for Horse-Eye Jack with a 25-pound, 5-ounce fish on July 20, 2013. The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
