A few weeks back ODU received in the mail a Mojo Sportswear Marlin Vented Wireman sports/fishing shirt. From our perspective summer/warmer weather shirts for outdoorsmen should have a few qualities: comfortable, breathable, UV protection and of course durability. Sharp looks are always nice in a shirt, but pale in perspective to the first qualifications.
This is a great shirt! The shirt has ComfortWeaze™, which is a tightly woven poly fabric that also offers sun protection factor of UPF 50, blocking 98% of the sun’s harmful rays. An added benefit the retail says is because of the tight weave the UV rays cannot penetrate, which means that the UPF rating will never wash out of the shirt.
The vented panels along the sides and beneath the arms are a extra bonus and allow the wearer to stay cool and allow for a day in the sun fishing to be done in comfort. We used the shirt initially on a 87 degree day, with little wind and the shirt was a life saver. It keep the writer free of sweat the entire day and made fishing that much more enjoyable.
Though the shirt has been only worn on a few outings, it has been used well and has shown no wear. The ComfortWeave™ also resists stains, odors and snags and although it’s softer than cotton, it wears like iron. We expect the shirt to get a bit messy over extended use, but the next few seasons the writer will be sporting a great looking and a comfortable shirt that will outlast it’s competitors.
