Long Day of Fishing Goes Sour, Best $14 Ever Spent

BoatUSBeing a member of BoatUS has its advantages. The boat owner group offers its members helpful services such as roadside assistance for breakdowns while towing a boat. If you’ve ever seen a nice boat on a trailer left unhitched and unattended on the side of a busy highway, you can probably guess that most auto clubs don’t handle boat trailers, and the owner has run off to get some help. The few clubs that will assist your boat trailer charge a heck of a lot more than BoatUS’ $14 Unlimited Trailer Assist program that can be added to BoatUS annual membership for just $38 total. A few months ago Alabama Bass Trail Angler Keith Blocker and wife Lisa found out just how helpful this service can be when you’re tuckered out and want to get home.

“After a long day of tournament fishing, we were headed home when my truck broke down,” said Keith. “I called the 800 number on my BoatUS membership card and the lady on the phone was very happy to help me with my problem. I was just looking to get my boat towed home and handle the truck myself,” he added.

“But since we were towing the boat trailer, the BoatUS Unlimited Trailer Assist program kicked-in, which gave us the choice of having both the tow vehicle and boat trailer towed,” said Blocker. BoatUS Unlimited Trailer Assist provides towing for both a disabled tow vehicle and boat trailer up to a 100 miles to a location of your choice, along with flat tire changing, jumpstarts, ramp winching, fuel drop and key lock out service.

“She was very happy to tell me that the boat being attached to the truck was covered under the BoatUS Unlimited Trailer Assist program that I had added to my membership for $14. She got me a tow for my truck and I decided to have my fishing buddy get my boat. I am pleased to say it was not a good day but ended up being better with the help from BoatUS. Thanks for being there and doing what you say when an angler needs it most.”

BoatUS offers the only 24-hour dispatch for both on the water and on the road assistance for boaters that offers five different ways to summon assistance: VHF radio, BoatUS Towing App, telephone, and satellite messaging with SPOT and DeLorme inReach communications services.

About Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS):

BoatUS is the nation’s largest organization of recreational boaters with over a half million members. We are the boat owners’ voice on Capitol Hill and fight for their rights. We help ensure a roadside breakdown doesn’t end a boating or fishing trip before it begins, and on the water, we bring boaters safely back to the launch ramp or dock when their boat won’t, day or night. The BoatUS insurance program gives boat owners the specialized coverage and superior service they need, and we help keep boaters safe and our waters clean with assistance from the non-profit BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water.
