LaserLyte® Laser Bore Sight Systems Still Lead the Way in Advanced Laser Technology 25 Years Later

LL First Bore Sight

LaserLyte®, innovators of firearms laser technology, celebrates 25 years of laser innovation from the invention of the first laser bore sighting system to the latest LaserLyte® cartridge laser bore tools. LaserLyte® founder, Larry Moore, started back in 1987 with a small company later known as Tac Star Industries, Inc. Under the Tac Star banner, Moore sold gun accessories and designed and produced new products, including the first “laser bore sighter” on the market.

Ever the “inventor,” Larry took the latest in laser technology and combined his new passion with the time consuming and expensive task of bore sight alignment. The annual tradition of many hunters and long range shooters was about to be put on its head. Instead of spending the day at a range slowly adjusting a rifle’s point of aim and accuracy, one shot and one adjustment at a time, the new system; the BAK Bore Alignment Kit, adapted from a 1st generation sound activated laser trainer that fit in the end of the barrel. The innovative laser system allowed the user to quickly align the bore without wasting ammunition or targets. The added benefit was that the laser alignment system was less expensive than a day spent at the range and the ammunition usually required to boresight a scope. The kit was approximately $50 and in the first year, LaserLyte® sold about 1,000 units.

It took a few years for the laser concept to really catch on, but once it did, there was no looking back. Lasers had become a viable tool in the firearms industry. Several years later, Larry merged with Lyte Optronics and the LaserLyte® that we all know of today was born. Aaron Moore soon joined his father and brought more than new, young blood to the company.

With Aaron’s expertise in international business, marketing and sales, the company was continually expanding the laser product line and engaging a whole new generation of target shooters and concealed carry citizens.

The LaserLyte® family of bore sights continues to grow, offering customers a variety of options including the Mini Laser Bore Sight MBS-1, a patented, sleek, high-precision red laser module that fits any .22 to .50 caliber firearm (with a 3-inch barrel required) and zeroes in the scope or iron sights to within 3 to 4-inches of the bullseye at up to 100-yards in about 3 shots. For smaller caliber firearms, the LaserLyte® Mini Laser Bore Sight MBS-1722 works with any firearm from .17 to .22 including the popular .17 HMR caliber round. The MBS Accessory Pack MBS-Pak combines all the tools into one polymer case for sighting in any firearm; handgun, rifle and shotgun. The MBS-Pak includes a scope/gun leveler, 12 393-batteries, 12-20 gauge shotgun adapter, a .51-.75 caliber bore adapter, a .22-.50 caliber tool kit and a daylight target.

LaserLyte® also developed the ingenious cartridge bore tool that allows the user to slide the laser bore tool inside the firearm chamber and when the bolt is closed the laser automatically activates. The cartridge bore tools include the LAS-17H, .17 HRM cartridge bore tool, and the Kryptonyte .50 BMG cartridge bore took (K-50) that utilizes an exclusive daylight visible green laser; 100 times more visible to the human eye than traditional red lasers. All of LaserLyte’s laser bore sight systems were conceived to save the user money, time and ammunition and that philosophy has not changed over a quarter of a century.

Twenty-five years and LaserLyte® continues to grow. With a new, larger facility, more R&D, the dedicated team will continue to lead LaserLyte® into the next 25-years of laser possibilities.
