Just Keep Reeling

Just Keep ReelingIn his book, “An Entirely Synthetic Fish” Anders Halverson wrote “It has been said that both in quality and quantity, fishing literature exceeds any other sport.” Andy Whitcomb has now joined those stirred, or frustrated, by fishing to put words on paper. “I’ve always been distracted with thoughts of fishing,” he said. “Fortunately, I’ve found some editors who have let me tackle such pressing topics as fish smells, the fishing trip honeybun, and the glory of ‘bass thumb’.” He was the 2011 columnist for Oklahoma Today magazine and a columnist for the now closed, www.espnoutdoors.com. Since 2011 he has been a weekly blogger for the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation’s centerpiece, www.takemefishing.org, sharing a unique perspective on all things related to fishing.

“Andy Whitcomb has a clever way of looking at seemingly mundane subjects and giving them an interesting spin. His talents as a storyteller have made him one of my favorite writers. I eagerly anticipate every funny and heart-warming tale.” (Keith “Catfish” Sutton, author of several books including “The Crappie Fishing Handbook” and “Out There Fishing”)

Andy Whitcomb is in avid angler, and “stressed out” father of two, currently chasing steelhead and smallmouth in Pennsylvania. He has a strong background in fisheries, having worked in fish hatcheries and as a fisheries research technician at Oklahoma State University, Iowa State University, and Michigan State University.
