Is Your Ammo Causing You To Miss Or Cripple Birds?

When it comes to waterfowl hunting ammo there are two questions I hear over and over again. The first question is what is the best ammo I can buy? The second most common question is what is the cheapest ammo I can buy? There are a lot of different variables that go into answering these questions. The short answer to both questions is the same: whatever ammo you have the lowest ratio of shots-to-kills with using your gun and choke combination for specific species and ranges.

Every shell/load is going to perform differently out of different gun and choke combinations.  Different distances will change the pattern as well.   The only true way of determining what is the best ammo for you to use is by patterning your gun. Patterning your gun is testing different shell loads and how they perform in your gun. To accomplish this you will need 48” by 36” pieces of card board. You can go to the local appliance store to get large cardboard boxes and cut them to size.  Read more….
