International Style National Championships

Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation logoThe Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) announced today that its Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) International Style National Championships will be held July 25-29, 2014 at USA Shootings home grounds at the International Shooting Park located on the Fort Carson military reservation in Colorado Springs, CO.

SCTP registered teams and athletes will compete in Olympic-style Trap (Bunker), Double Trap and International Skeet. The tournament will conclude with food/refreshments and an awards ceremony which will be held on July 29, 2014 at a 4-Star facility, The Cheyenne Mountain Resort!

“We are proud to host the SCTP’s presentation and awards ceremony,” said Penny Bergsten, Senior Sales Manager for the resort. “I think they will love it here!” The resort sits at the base of Cheyenne Mountain offering breathtaking views and plenty of family activities when done shooting!

“What a great place to acknowledge the achievements of these hard working athletes and teams,” added SCTP National Director, Tom Wondrash.

Along with several key note speakers will be former Team USA’s National Shotgun Coach and SCTP supporter, Lloyd Woodhouse! The ceremony will conclude with USA Shooting awarding up to 4 slots on the coveted US Junior Team to SCTP shooters!!

“We are proud to support and partner with the SCTP and their athletes dedication to the youth shooting sports,” said Bob Mitchell, Executive Director of USA Shooting. In a recent revision of the MOU between SSSF and USAS, the SCTP & SPP are the only national youth shooting programs recognized as “Official” feeder programs to USA Shooting!

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is responsible for all aspects of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP) across the United States, including participant registration, coaches, state coordinators, state and national championships, promotion, communications, websites, public relations and growth strategies. The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation exists to raise funding and other resources for Youth Development Programs in the shooting sports industry.

SCTP and SPP are youth development programs where adult coaches and volunteers model sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, and teamwork while using shooting sports programs to teach these and other positive life skills to the athletes.
