TGOYou might want to consider some of these helpful pointers, too. • Turn your reel slightly away from the flag when positioning your rod handles within the holder. This allows tripped flags extra room to clear the reel (especially important when fishing in strong winds!) • Use braided line as backing before adding wire, monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders of the desired diameter, test and length via a quality ball-bearing swivel. You’ll find the relatively slippery coating on the braid slides smoothly through the trip grips, offering improved trip performance.DSC_0440

• Run your line from in front of the stripper guide down to the trip bar. This provides a better tripping angle for the flag, resulting in smoother releases.

DSC_0455• When placing your line within the trip clip, form a narrow bend with it directly beneath the grip—this helps lift the trip in a smooth, uniform manner.

• For an exceptionally light trip, extend the trip grips past the end of the metal clips, and set your line within this extension. With very little pressure applied through the spring loaded clips, tension can be minimized.
