Hornady® “Zombies in the Heartland” 3-Gun Event Wildly Popular

A total of 302 Zombie hunters armed with handguns, shotguns and rifles, converged on Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island, Nebraska, June 29 through July 1, 2012 to battle the “undead” in the Zombies in the Heartland 3-gun shooting match hosted by Hornady® and the Nebraska Army National Guard.

Shooters from 27 states tested their talent in the match that featured eight stages, and six side match stages. Specially developed reactive zombie targets kept everyone engaged and entertained. Participants shot from inside a school bus, through a tunnel, from behind a wrecked car, and from other challenging and unique stages.

The top shooters in each division were:

Amateur: Justin Morris
Tactical: Neal Emery
Pro: Larry Houck

“This was a brand new event that drew tremendous response,” said Jeremy Millard, Match Director and Hornady® Engineer. “It was a unique way for 3-gun competitors to enjoy a fun, challenging environment built around the latest Zombie trend. A prize table worth $160,000 in products was the largest ever offered in Nebraska, and allowed every shooter to walk the prize table.”
The Nebraska Army National Guard sponsored a Charity CQB Shoot House, with proceeds benefiting a military charity. Competitors shot airsoft M-4s with green lasers, in a maze of walls, smoke, lights and sound, and reactive zombie targets.
