Headed to the lake for a couple of hours

Headed to the lake for a couple of hoursPepper and the “fishing guy”, headed to the lake for a couple of hours today.

There was a very warm wind, which I love. Reminds me of my days along the beach in Florida, and surf fishing. No pains with the warmth, which is great.

At first I thought it was going to be a “no fish day”. Even Pepper was setting and rolling his eyes at me as if to say, “Well now what are you going to use?”

Whatever I would use today it was a good thing I had Natural Forage Baits, as everything was caught on an R4, RT7 and, of course, the Swim Bait. Jana Ken Davidson will already guess the color of the Swim Bait – yep, Green Shad.

Fish did not come deep this time. Most strikes came from 6 to 12 inches out from shore, where paralleling. A few were out about 3 feet, but not many. They were setting in clumps of weeds and areas of cattails waiting for anything that would swim by. Best of all, bumping any of the weeds seemed to produce some of the strikes.

In all, during the 2-hour trip, we managed to catch 16 bass. Nothing huge, but did take a photo of one caught on the NFB Swim Bait to use in the report.

Until next time, get out on the water, and enjoy a great day of fishing.
