Half of Wyoming’s Wolf Hunt Zones Already Closed

Half of Wyoming’s Wolf Hunt Zones Already ClosedFive weeks into its first wolf hunting season since 2013 and half of Wyoming’s wolf hunt zones are already closed because hunters met quotas. “It’s been three years since their last hunting season. We’ve got a whole new generation of wolves out there that haven’t been exposed to public hunting,” Ken Mills, Wyoming Game and Fish (WGF) large carnivore specialist, told Wyoming Public Media. “So you’re in a scenario where they’re probably a bit naïve, for sure. And that’s part of potentially why some of the areas closed early.”

As of November 6, hunters took a total of 33 wolves across 12 hunt zones in the northwest part of the state and an additional 25 outside the protected zone.
