Fishing In The Weeds

Today’s fishing started off with some good hits and lost fish on a Blitz Lures LLC Phrog. The weeds are so thick that if the fish isn’t brought up quickly there is a 99% chance he will be lost in the mess.

The first fish in came on a black/blue Blitz Spyder Jig with a matching Natural Forage Baits Mad Craw.

“Top Bait of the Day” honors went to the NFB 7″ Ribbon Tail worm, rigged on a TTI-Blakemore XPoint XGap hook with a 3/16 oz sinker.

One area that produced best was a wooden structure that is in the middle of the lake and surrounded by weeds. I would make my cast with the 8′ 6″ Air Rod to the edge of the weeds, and then let it set for a short time. When reeling up the slack the fish would pick up the worm and start swimming down the outer edge.

I only got in a couple of hours, but at least caught some good fish, even with an East wind that is always said to be “fishing is the least”.

Until next time, get out on the water and have a great day of fishing.
