Dogwoods were in bloom

My old friend, Keith Lundahl, who owned Lundahl Lures with the Pop’s Topwater Spoon, always said that when the Red Buds were in bloom the bass were hitting. When I was at the Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock in Bull Shoals, AR people said when the Dogwoods were in bloom the bass were hitting. Well today my red bud and ornamental crabapple are blooming. So, the bass may be hitting very well. However, no fishing this evening as too much to do, and I’m up again at 4 for another day with the Scott County Conservation Department where I’ve planted 175 seedlings plus some larger trees in the past 3 days. Now I’m staking, tubing and mulching the trees.

The crabapple gives off a very pleasant odor that can be smelled better further away than going directly to the blooms.
