Deep Inside Dan’s Tackle Box

This brings back a few good fishing memories, especially from the Colchester, IL area. These lures were call Vivif, which came from France. The only way you could obtain them was by ordering. Later Heddon started producing them – I believe under a different name. I think I have 6 of these, but found these three today. They still have plenty of flexibility and the strange texture is still as good as the day I opened the package.

Just like when I shot Jim Nordquist‘s RWS Diana 45, this will be a blast from the past to give these a try this year in open water. Who knows, may be another Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® article and video. #viviffishinglurefrance #fishingincolchesterillinois #jimnordquistrwsdiana45

This really isn’t a memory that I pulled out of the mess being sorted. It is more of a puzzle. I’ve got several of these, and haven’t got a clue as from where they came. I’m sure it was a company that wanted me to use and promote them, but sure wasn’t one of my regular pro staffs – at least not that I can remember.

They came out of one of my old beat up boxes, so I know it wasn’t anything my folks picked up somewhere.

Anyway, something to look at and figure out, of which the big question is – “Why no blade, and why a hook on the blade shaft?”. Definitely not a Stanley Jigs

My grandparents brought this memory back from fishing. I found this in my Mom’s tackle box, along with one other. Gram and Gramp McCullough used to use the Doan’s Pills cans to store their hooks and weights. Yep, they are still in the little cans. Not sure, but I imagine Doan’s Pills are long gone from the marketplace, and even if they were around they would be in a plastic bottle.

It definitely isn’t a Plano Stowaway box.

I’m still looking for Gram’s metal box that she carried with needle nose pliers, and a few other things, including the Doan’s. Mom always carried it in her tackle box or bag. I know not long before she died she was sorting around in her tackle, so I don’t know if it is somewhere else or not. #olddoanspillscans #planostowawayboxes

One of the old boxes I’ve been searching through contained several of the soft plastic lures that I used to pour. I found one that I called the Fish Arrow. There are just enough that I’ve pulled them out to try on a black/blue Blitz Lures LLC finesse jig. I think it may be a great combination. If so, I may end up pulling out the old molds and doing some more pouring. Just what I need – something else to do. Then again, could be another Dan’s Fish ‘N’ Tales® article, and perhaps video.

Then again, maybe I’ll get Natural Forage Baits interested in the design, and they will make another great lure and combine it with Kick’n Bass Fish Attractants.
