Decoy Dos and Don’ts

There’s nothing more frustrating to a turkey hunter than when a tom hangs up right outside of gun range. A properly-placed decoy could get him to come those extra few steps. Using a decoy can give you a little extra edge over a wary bird, but there are several tips you need to follow to make sure your hunt is enjoyable and safe. First, never carry a decoy in or out of the woods without putting it either in a camo sack or your vest. That way, another person doesn’t mistake your decoy for a bird walking through the woods.
