David Walker's Record Sheepshead 1A fisherman landed a state record-breaking catch last month in Delaware, the state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control confirmed Wednesday. David Walker, of Boothwyn, Pa., reeled in the 17.1-pound sheepshead from a boat on the lower Delaware Bay 

Sept. 29 during the Delaware Sport Fishing Tournament. Caught on a green crab, the sheepshead was 28 inches long, with a girth of 24 inches, officials said. Walker’s catch was confirmed by a state Natural Resources Police officer and verified at the Lewes Harbour Marina.It shattered the state record previously set by Christopher Wentz, who landed a 15.11-pound sheepshead in 2012.
