Carp Fishing In Weed

Ace Carp FishingOne of the biggest problems carp anglers face when presenting a bait is getting around the issues that weed presents, says Iain Macmillan. During the early stages of the season this green menace is generally relatively sparse and doesn’t present the angler with too many problems, but as soon as it starts to warm up its growth can accelerate rapidly.

In no time at all, a water you have happily been fishing with no problems at all can appear almost impossible to fish, but this needn’t be the case. Fishing in such conditions takes a lot of confidence on the angler’s part, which can be extremely difficult when long strands of weed can be seen rising all the way to the surface over several feet of water.

In this situation it would be easy to fish chod style rigs, as these pretty much guarantee you a rig that is fishing effectively regardless of the of the bottom you are fishing over. At times, however, it can pay to fish a rig that incorporates a little loose feed, something that the carp will really forage out amongst the green stuff.
