Bonefish & Tarpon Trust Seeks Support for 2014 Programs

Bone & Tarpon Trust LogoAs the holiday season comes to a close, we begin to look to and plan for the year ahead. We have built a huge amount of momentum over the past year, and have celebrated a number of important conservation victories. But we recognize that we can’t rest on our laurels, and need to continue to push forward. We have big plans for 2014: expand juvenile tarpon habitat restoration to new locations around Florida; continue research and work to protect bonefish spawning locations in the Bahamas; keep searching for juvenile bonefish and bonefish spawning locations in the Keys; explore possible links between the Cuban and the Keys bonefishery; work to determine the causes of the bonefish decline in the Keys, including conducting water quality assessments; continue to work with management agencies to better protect bonefish, tarpon, permit and their habitats. These are just a few examples of our goals for the upcoming year. All of this is thanks to your generous support.

There are many ways you can support our growth in 2014.

Join us on one of our three exciting traveling angler trips-Belize River Lodge March 26-April 2, The Palometa Club May 9-16, or Belcampo Belize June 14-20. Not only will you take part in cutting-edge fisheries science (while fishing some of the best locations on earth), but a portion of proceeds from the trip benefit BTT.

Attend, sponsor, or donate auction items to one of our fundraising events-Boca Grande Banquet on January 31st, Naples Banquet on February 15th, New York City Banquet on March 12th, George Hommell Jr. Memorial Fundraiser in Islamorada on April 9th, Boston Fundraiser in September (date TBD), and our Symposium in Dania Beach November 7th and 8th.We hope to see you at one of these great events!

Continue to spread the word about BTT, encourage your friends to join, and serve as an advocate for bonefish, tarpon and permit and their habitats. Watch the exciting new season of Buccaneers and Bones on Outdoor Channel to learn even more about these amazing fish and their habitats. If you’re not a member yet, join us. If you are a member, consider increasing your membership level this year. We look forward to another productive year, and are so grateful for your generous support.
