Big Fish Big Bucks Fishing Derby March 31-April 27Anglers are invited to Santee Cooper Country for the inaugural Big Fish Big Bucks Fishing Derby, which runs Monday, March 31, through Sunday, April 27, on the Santee Cooper Lakes. Presented by the Santee Cooper Counties Promotion Commission, this fishing tournament will feature daily cash prizes of $200, and a weekly cash prize of $1,000, for the largest fish caught in the following categories: bass, crappie, catfish, and striper. If there is a tie in any category, the prize money will be divided. A grand prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the largest catch of each category from the 28-day tournament. Grand prize winners are subject to a polygraph test.

Only fish caught on lakes Marion and Moultrie, and the Diversion Canal, are eligible for prizes. All fish must be caught on hook-and-line or rod-and-reel. All South Carolina Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations apply.

All Derby participants aged 16 and older must have a valid South Carolina fishing license. Registration fees are $10 per licensed adult, $5 per child under 16, and $5 per person fishing with a guide (good for the length of hire only). Scales will close at 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon on Sunday.
