Beretta USA Donates $10,000

Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation logoThe Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) announces that Beretta USA has contributed $10,000 to its Scholarship Fund. In keeping with the scholastic component of SSSF’s mission, the donation will be used to fund scholarships for graduating high school seniors who participate in SSSF’s Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and will be entering college in 2014.

In 2013, SSSF awarded $1000 scholarships to 35 SCTP athletes.

Beretta is a long-time supporter of SSSF programs and a Platinum Level sponsor. “Beretta is pleased to offer this support to SSSF to be used for scholarships for deserving shooter athletes who are continuing their education at the collegiate level,” said Carlton Nether, Shooting and Events Marketing Manager at Beretta USA.

To apply for SSSF scholarships, student athletes submit a formal application with transcript and essay. The 2014 scholarship application period will open in April.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation exists to raise funding and other resources for youth development programs in the shooting sports industry. It is responsible for all aspects of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP) across the United States, including participant registration, coaches, state coordinators, state and national championships, promotion, communications, websites, public relations, and growth strategies.

SCTP and SPP are youth development programs in which adult coaches and volunteers model sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, and teamwork, while using shooting sports programs to teach these and other positive life skills to the athletes.
