BATFE Makes Bonnie Parker’s .38 Special Federally Compliant, Issues Serial Number

The Manchester, NH Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) has made the .38 Colt Detective Special found strapped to Bonnie Parker’s thigh after she and Clyde Barrow were killed by law enforcement officers in 1934, federally compliant so it may legally be sold at auction as scheduled Sept. 30.

Because the gun, recovered by Texas Ranger Captain Frank Hamer, had the serial numbers removed, ATF has issued a new number. More here…    And here…
