A trip to one of our favorite lakes

A trip to one of our favorite lakesDon Banning and I took a trip to one of our favorite lakes today, and in spite of the fact there is a summer turn over, I managed to drum up a few fish by staying at it until the right combination of lure and retrieve was found.

The first fish was a nice size crappie caught on a apricot colored Rat-L-Trap. However, this pattern didn’t hold.

After a few missed strikes on a couple of different Natural Forage Baits worms, and Don hooking a couple on a Wacky rigged Senko, I decided to switch to an old stand-by – a NFB green shad Swim Bait rigged on a 1/4 oz BFishn Tackle H20 Precision jig head.

By using the Swim Bait with a lift-and-drop, and very slow bottom swim, I was able to persuade 7 nice bass to hit, while losing a few others.

Guess you could say this was another Natural Forage Baits day.

Until next time, get out on the water, and enjoy a great day of fishing.
