493-pound Swordfish

Bryan Barclay 1A Brazoria County man has landed in the record books after he caught what state officials say is the biggest swordfish ever pulled from the Gulf of Mexico with a rod and reel. Bryan Barclay hooked the 493-pound, more-than-12-foot long behemoth June 4, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. He used squid to lure the mammoth catch. The fish bested the previous record by more than 100 pounds.Officials did not have information about where the fish was landed or how long Barclay fought to get it on board.
