Frog Fishing Gear Set-Up

Frog Fishing Gear Set-UpEvery angler loves going into their tackle box and deciding what Snag Proof Frog to throw, including me!  But no matter what Frog I’ll be throwing, I’ll use the same rod and reel set up.  The set up I use ensures I’m able to impart the action I want into that frog with ease, make long casts and most importantly hook and get that bass out of the heavy cover and into the boat.ODU April Fishing 2016

Rod – Wright & McGill Tessera Series Frog Rod (7’2” Heavy action):  you want a rod that can drive the hook home and has the backbone to horse that fish out of the weeds, but a soft tip on it so you can make your frog walk-the-dog.

Reel – Wright & McGill Victory Pro Carbon high-speed:  using a high-speed reel allows you to pick up the slack in your line quickly.

Line – Seaguar Smackdown 65 lb test braided line:  braided line cuts through the vegetation and has no stretch, which translates into a better hook set and you being able to get that bass out of the weeds.
