Fishing with Bill Miller LogoHubbard’s Marina reports the 63 hour deep water trip brought in their max limit of grouper. They had 140 grouper including large gags, yellowedge, kitty mitchells, scamp and snowies. Also caught were blackfin tuna and tilefish among a variety of other ultra deep water species.

With all the cold weather the power plant warm water run offs are the place to be. Good reports of pompano, silver trout, cobia, jacks and sharks are coming in. Jumbo shrimp and jigs are the best baits.

Passa Grille Pass and JBill Miller 4ohn’s Pass had good pompano action before the windy weather reports Maximo Marina. Anglers jigging yellow or pink jigs were catching limits on both the incoming and outgoing tides. Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and jack crevalles also provided good action.

Tim Zimmerman has been trolling the ship channel edges using the MirrOlure Deep 25’ in the pink mackerel color to catch big gag grouper to 15 pounds.

Capt. Billy Miller says the docks along Lewis Island are providing good action. Miller likes to use a fresh shrimp on a ¼ ounce jig head around the docks and sea walls to catch redfish, trout, snook and sheepshead.

The Homasassa and Crystal River Springs are good places to fish in cold weather. The water comes out of the springs at 72* and fish like it their when the temperature drops sharply. Capt. William Toney has been catching speckled trout, redfish, mangrove snapper and lots of other fish using shrimp on a jig head.
