Boston Whaler New 42-Footer Outrage

boston whaler logoGet ready for the biggest, boldest, most inspired Boston Whaler ever. During the 2014 Cannes International Boat Show, which opened September 9, representatives from Boston Whaler introduced the all-new 420 Outrage, a boat with incredible comfort, capability and cutting-edge features.

“The 420 Outrage is the largest Boston Whaler ever produced,” said Jeff Vaughn, vice president of sales, marketing and customer service. “It all began by asking, ‘How can we push beyond the limits of what’s possible in a center console boat?’ We’ve found our answer in the 420 Outrage. There is literally nothing else like it on the marketplace.”

Visitors were treated to an intricate, two-foot scale model of the 420 Outrage, on display for the duration of the Cannes show. This beautiful detailed replica highlighted several of the boat’s defining features: four Mercury® Verado engines featuring Joystick Piloting, a tremendous amount of space in the bow, thoughtfully designed cockpit and helm seating, state-of-the-art electronics including a SmartCraft Vessel View display, and so much more.

As indicated by these facets, the 420 Outrage is the ultimate boat for onboard entertaining. The gracious bow and helm areas are designed to facilitate group gatherings, while the well-appointed cabin provides a welcome break from the elements. And, true to its Outrage lineage, serious sportfishing falls squarely within its domain.

“The Boston Whaler legacy is defined by its most groundbreaking moments-those important leaps forward in design, technology and manufacturing,” said Boston Whaler President Huw Bower. “The 420 Outrage marks an exciting new chapter in our legend with a bold declaration of performance and capability. It’s truly a boat like no other.”

The 420’s debut comes on the heels of a major facilities expansion project at Boston Whaler’s Edgewater, Florida, headquarters. With an under-roof addition of more than 58,000 total square feet, the expansion serves to significantly increase Whaler’s manufacturing capabilities and expands capacity at a time when the company is enjoying strong growth.

“This expansion gives us the capability to continue to grow our portfolio,” said Bower. “We are proud to have introduced more than a dozen new boats in less than three years’ time, including the unprecedented 420 Outrage, and we look forward to continuing this trajectory of innovation. Expanding the capacity of our facility underscores our commitment to continued growth and enables us to further expand our product line to meet the solid demand for our boats.”
