Thursday Morning Wood Duck Hunt

Thursday Mornings Wood Duck Hunt 2 I got out yesterday morning for another hunt. Wholly willy-O-smokes! Golly geez were the birds flying. They were dropping in as I was shooting! I must have had a totaling 25-30 birds rain in on me all within less then 15 minutes. GREAT Pictures to check by Mike.

What a great hunt! Thursday Mornings Wood Duck Hunt 3

Whether it’s a northern bull canvasback or a sexy sleek chocolate headed sprig; it doesn’t matter. All of North America’s waterfowl are magnificently beautiful in their own special way. But the wood duck or woody if you prefer; now that is something else.

Amazing; adorned with all the colours of the rainbow and iridescently displaying a hundred shades of lustrous shimmer; can still hide its self among the bottomland timber swamps.

Teal have been said and been known to easily twist any waterfowler into a pretzel with a turn on a dime while having after-burners rivalling mach-one fighter jets. But have you ever seen a woody rocket weaving in and out of the dense hardwoods? Without even ruffling a feather.

With a diet of only fruits and nuts, is there another duck whose flesh is of greater table fare?

Well I do feel remorse for taking such beauty; but then again I am the hunter. And as a hunter, there is no one more appreciative then I am… for the woody. By I.M. Borovic
