Late Fall Bass And Winter Opportunities

Strike King LogoQuestion: Shaw, what lures are you using now to catch bass? Grigsby: The answer to that question may seem a little strange. But I’m catching more bass right now using the new Strike King SK Plus sunglasses with Advanced Polarized Technology (APT) on the lenses than I am with any of the Strike King lures. These new sunglasses allow me to see deeper into the water and be able to identify bass better. To catch more bass, especially in the fall/early winter time of the year, you need to wear a quality pair of polarized sunglasses.

When you go to buy sunglasses, especially polarized sunglasses, take the polarized sunglasses you already own with you. Then place the pair of polarized sunglasses you’re thinking about buying level with the sunglasses you’re already wearing, as though you’re wearing two pairs of sunglasses at the same time. Now, take the pair you’re thinking about buying and hold them vertically, so that you now have the sunglasses you already own on your nose horizontally, and the sunglasses you’re thinking about buying vertically in front of the sunglasses you’re wearing. Looking through those two pairs of sunglasses, you should see a much-darker color. Shaw GrigsbyYour glasses should be much darker, and if you’re seeing waves and different colors in that second pair of sunglasses, then you’ll know that the second pair of sunglasses has bad polarization.

Those wavy lines and refractions can cause you not to see as well as you should be able to see with polarized sunglasses. However, if you take a pair of SK Plus Sunglasses with APT, you’ll see perfect polarization, with no fracture. Besides the technology, Strike King has come out with some very-modern frames and designs, so not only do you have great polarization that allows you to see the bass better, but you also have very-stylish frames holding those lenses.

Strike King also produces those glasses in all different types of lens colors, which is very important. You need to know which color lenses are best for seeing bass, and which color lenses are best when you’re just running your boat. When I’m sight fishing, I want either yellow- or amber-colored lenses. Strike King makes three colors of amber or yellow lenses. Fising with Shaw GrigsbyI like the SG-SKP12 wrap-around polar sunglasses best, because they look really good and have a yellow and brown lens, which I think is the best for sight fishing. The SG-SKP04 and the SG-SKP05 sunglasses have the lenses on their sides to block light from coming-in on the sides.

Question: Why are yellow- or amber-colored lenses better for sight fishing than black or grey? Read on….
